A Flag for Every Hero

Memorial Day is quickly approaching once again. As always, Beech Grove appreciates the many volunteers that take time out of their schedule to help walk the cemetery to put out individual flags for the numerous veterans that are interred here. The cemetery is approximately 120 acres with thousands of veterans’ graves. It is a time consuming task, but one that is rewarding.

We will be placing the flags for Memorial Day during the week of Monday, May 22 – Friday, May 27, and retrieving them on Thursday, June 1st.

This is a wonderful event that would be perfect for groups looking for volunteer opportunities in the community. There is no need to sign up for this event in advance. Just contact the office 765-741-1352 to select a section and pick up flags. Flags may be placed anytime that the cemetery gates are open- 7 days a week 8:00a.m. – 8:00p.m.

Spread the word and come out to show your support and remember all of the heroes who are interred at Beech Grove Cemetery.

If your loved one does not receive a flag, stop by the office to pick one up. Please remember: No one is ever intentionally overlooked. The flags are placed by volunteers and some headstones are hard to read or do not indicate that the deceased was a veteran.
